Tyres must provide high performance to meet safety standards and diverse quality requirements. G forces, braking forces and centrifugal forces encountered in curves have to be transferred. Vibrations resulting from the dynamics of vehicle movement have to be absorbed. The requirements placed upon “tyre performance" are low noise, low roll resistance and, hence, low fuel consumption. These requirements must be met in any season, any weather and on different road surfaces.
At temperatures above 7°C, summer tyres achieve the best possible results. At low temperatures with snow-covered or icy ground, winter tyres are the choice. Opting for all-weather or all-season tyres, you no longer have to switch between winter and summer tyres. With regard to road performance, this type of tyres does, however, not constitute an alternative. Further information on the diverse tyre types is available under Interesting Facts.
